If the Worker’s Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) receives all required information, experience modifications (X-Mods) may be published as early as four months prior to the policy effective date; however, there are some issues that delay the publication of X-Mods.
To find the status of an X-Mod:
X-Mod Pending Status | Definition |
Missing Experience | The WCIRB is missing unit statistical data for one or more policies in the experience period; this may include policies that are too early to report unit statistical data. Click the hyperlink to identify the missing unit statistical data. |
ER Error(s) | The WCIRB has received unit statistical data for a policy, but we need additional information or a correction from the insurer. The WCIRB is working with the insurer to resolve the issue. Click the hyperlink to identify the policy. |
Too Early to Rate | The WCIRB publishes X-Mods up to four months prior to the Rating Effective Date. |
Rates Not Approved | The rates for the Rating Effective Date year have not been approved by the California Insurance Commissioner. |
In Progress | The X-Mod status should be updated within the next one to five business days. If it has not been or has been in this status for longer than five business days, please notify the Contact Center. |
Requires Insurer Response | The WCIRB has sent correspondence to an insurer regarding an issue that could impact the X-Mod. |
Pending Receipt of Coverage | The WCIRB does not have a record of coverage for the X-Mod effective period. |
Unable to Rate | The WCIRB has been unable to obtain the data required to generate an X-Mod. |
